SKI PASS

All cross-country skiers on public ski trails who are aged 16 and above must have a Minnesota Ski Pass. You must sign and carry your ski pass and carry it with you when skiing. Your ski pass helps support Minnesota's cross-country ski trail system.

Ski Pass Rates:

Daily Ski Pass: $5
One-season Ski Pass: $15
Three-season Ski Pass: $40

Ski rental costs are $10 for the first 2 hours, $2 for each additional hour. Includes, skis, boots & poles.

ICE SKATE ON LANESBORO'S BASS POND

The pond at the base of Hwy 8 is cleared and groomed for ice skating when winter conditions are favorable.


ROOT RIVER SNOWMOBILING

Snowmobiles with studs:

  • No parallel trail available except for a very short segment between Lanesboro and Whalan.

Non-studded snowmobiles:

  • Because the Root River Trail is predominately a non-motorized trail, snowmobiles are not allowed on the paved surface of the trail.

ACTIVITIES
 

Christmas Holiday Lights... Tour the streets of Lanesboro this Christmas season. Cuddle under the warmth of a blanket as you listen to bells jingling. Capture the beauty of the Christmas holiday lights and all the displays in the businesses downtown Lanesboro.

1st weekend after Thanksgiving through Dec. 23: Hours: 5 - 8 p.m., weather permitting

Vis-a-vis Rates: $22.50 per person - minimum of 2 people (maximum 4) Wagonette rates: $15.00 per person - minimum of 4 people (maximum 10)

SLEIGH RIDES... Cuddle together in the crisp winter air and listen to the music of brass bells as the sleigh runners cut through the snow! Heavy lap blankets will keep you cozy as you relax to the sound of sleigh bells jingling. Your sleigh ride begins in scenic Lanesboro, gliding through the fields and into the woods.

Sleigh rides are approximately 60 minutes. A sleigh ride reservation may be made at any time with the understanding that should snow conditions be unsuitable for a reserved sleigh ride we will substitute a carriage or wagonette ride of the same length.

A one hour narrated trolley tour departs from the feed mill which is on the north end of downtown Lanesboro. Learn about the early development of Lanesboro and how this scenic village in the valley was established. The Museum is located in downtown Historic Lanesboro, next to the Root River State Bike Trail. It has a collection of various items of the past including famous Buffalo Bill memorabilia.
