All cross-country skiers on public ski trails who are aged 16 and above must have a Minnesota Ski Pass. You must sign your ski pass and carry it with you when skiing. Your ski pass fee helps support Minnesota's cross-country ski trail system.

Ice Skate on Lanesboro’s Bass Pond - The pond at the base of Hwy 8 is cleared and groomed for ice skating when winter conditions are favorable.
Root River Snowmobiling
Snowmobiles with studs:
No parallel trail available except for a very short segment between Lanesboro and Whalan.
Non-studded snowmobiles:
Because the Root River Trail is a non-motorized trail, snowmobiles are not allowed on the paved surface of the trail.

A one hour narrated trolley tour departs from the feed mill which is on the north end of downtown Lanesboro. Learn about the early development of Lanesboro and how this scenic village in the valley was established. The tour will call attention to past and present day residents and points of interest that now give Lanesboro its magical charm.
Trolley Tours available daily at 1 p.m., weather permitting. A minimum of 8 people must be signed up for the trolley to tour. Closed on Sundays in Janurary and February
