Each October, hundreds of cyclists descend on Lanesboro for one of Minnesota’s most iconic gravel bike races — The Filthy 50. This challenging yet welcoming ride takes cyclists through 50 miles of scenic bluff country backroads, weaving between golden valleys, rolling farmland, and colorful wooded ridges. But it’s not just a great day for riders — it’s a fun, high-energy weekend for visitors too, filled with fall color, local flavor, and the excitement of cheering on racers as they roll through one of Minnesota’s most picturesque small towns.

🚵 What Is The Filthy 50?

Founded in 2013, the Filthy 50 has become a fall classic for Midwest gravel riders. The race kicks off on Saturday, October 11th, when hundreds of riders take off from downtown Lanesboro at 10:00 a.m. sharp.

The route winds through Fillmore County’s signature gravel roads — with climbs, coasting descents, and plenty of friendly competition along the way. Riders return to Lanesboro throughout the afternoon, greeted by cheering crowds and the lively buzz of Main Street.

But this isn’t just an event for racers. Whether you’re a cycling fan, casual visitor, or just looking for an unforgettable fall day in Bluff Country, race weekend in Lanesboro is a sight to see.

The Filthy 50 transforms Lanesboro into a festival of bikes and community. Spectators can cheer along Parkway Avenue as riders roll out and finish, then explore the shops, cafés, and parks that make our town so special.
