Dr. Johan Hvoslef was many things. A Norwegian immigrant. A beloved doctor in Lanesboro for nearly 50 years. A devoted father. More than anything, he was a man who loved birds. On daily walks for decades Dr. Hvoslef looked for, listened to, sketched and journaled about local birds. His writings, in both English and Norwegian, eventually made their way to the University of Minnesota, where they still exist as an unparalleled record of bird-life in southeastern Minnesota. Come learn about “Lanesboro’s Bird Doctor.” Local bird expert Joe Deden will also tell us why the Driftless area is one of the most diverse and valued bird-watching spots in our entire country.
