MiEnergy Cooperative is a member-owned electric utility serving a diverse customer base in beautiful southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa.


MiEnergy is a wholesale electricity provider to the City of Lanesboro.

7am-4pm M-Th; 7am-11am Friday by appointment. Power outages or safety concerns can be reported 24/7.

History

Founded in 1936

MiEnergy Cooperative and its predecessors Hawkeye REC and Tri-County Electric Cooperative have served electricity to rural areas of southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa since 1936. The electric distribution cooperatives got their start when local farmers banded together to bring electricity to rural areas that investor-owned utilities deemed unprofitable to serve. In 2017, the two cooperatives merged and currently serve over 19,200 members.
