The Lanesboro Area Community Foundation's (LACF) Annual Banquet & Dinner, featuring a special guest speaker, will take place on Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Lanesboro Community Center.
The LACF Board of Directors is proud to announce the guest speaker at the Annual Banquet will be Lanesboro native Dean Johnson. Dean Johnson has been a parish pastor at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar, Minnesota for 46 years. He is also a former Willmar firefighter. Johnson was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives (1978 to 1982) and the Minnesota Senate (1982 to 2006), where he served as minority and majority leader. A brigadier general in the United States Army National Guard, he was special assistant to the chief of chaplains, National Guard Bureau, Washington, D.C., and received numerous awards and commendations, including the Legion of Merit. Johnson grew up on a farm near Lanesboro, Minnesota. He received a bachelor of arts degree in business administration from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, a master of divinity degree from Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, and, in 2002, a master's degree in strategic studies from the United States Army War College. Dean Johnson is a current member of the Board of Regents at the University of Minnesota and has previously served a two year term as Chair.
The Pastry Shoppe of Lanesboro will cater the dinner. There will also be a silent auction with many interesting items up for bid. The public is encouraged to attend to learn more about LACF and visit with community members.
