Eric Carranza was selected for a Jerome Emerging Artist Residency at Lanesboro Arts in 2019 through a competitive jury process. He proposed the idea of gathering and recording stories from residents in the area and composing music inspired by the stories and his experiences in the Root River area. Much of his time in Lanesboro was spent conversing with locals and biking different areas of the Root River State Trail to find sunny spots next to the river to create and record. By the end of the four-week residency, he had composed and recorded a 23-track collection of stories and a series of musical vignettes inspired by the people, landscape, and atmosphere of Lanesboro.
This performance at Blue House will be the first and only live presentation of selections from the album with a 6-piece ensemble in Lanesboro.
