Founded in 1888Originally built as a home for Lanesboro's first mayor, the building was fully renovated and turned into an inn in 1995. We purchased the inn in 2021 and set to create modern spaces for todays travelers while still honoring the unique history of these buildings and historic downtown Lanesboro
We've also added Paddle On Coffee with it's large Mayoral Suite, named after the same mayor who also built that buildling to host one of Lanesboro's 1st shops. With the coffee shop, we offer daily gift cards to our guests to get them started on breakfast and make sure you have a great morning experience.
In addition, the Iron Horse building has joined the Root River Inn campus. It has stately rooms with a distinguished train theme honoring Lanesboro's history with the railroad. Now you can expect, bright & clean rooms and bathrooms. A unique historical lodging experience right downtown Lanesboro.
