Description
When it comes to the complex circumstances that circle around what it means to be alive in these present times, the majority of us are alone in bubbles. Predominate culture does not afford us the time, spaces or the access to the supportive environments we need in order to process and heal all that is tossing and turning inside of us. It is because of this that so often when we try and stand up in resistance, we end up re-centered right back into the same dysfunctional patterns rather than on a new and truly radicalized path.
This is why we need art. And not merely an art that seeks to further commodify and subjectify humans and nature in exchange for capitol, but an art that connects and reciprocates aliveness through nurturing the relatedness of all living things.
Please join us on October 8th for a supported workshop/process led by musician and poet Ben Weaver, with Artist Diane Knight, to discover, discuss, and process the spectrum of emotions that arise when dealing with climate change.
Leading with our imaginations and vulnerability we will use storytelling and writing as a way to spark ideas and possibilities. This 3-hour interactive workshop will incorporate music, reflective writing and conversation.
Participants will be invited to share their stories of climate change through Climate Generation’s (a Will Steger Legacy) EYEWITNESS project.
If you are feeling a sense of loss around the urgency to act but don’t know where to put those emotions, this event will offer a safe place to engage with others who have similar feelings and wish to use their imaginations to dream about what comes next.
