Bluff country is a great location for a nice winter getaway after a busy holiday season. Old Village Hall located on Coffee Street and Home Sweet Home on Parkway Avenue are known in Lanesboro for their wonderful food! New Year’s Eve Dinner will be served at both venues for those of you who would like to enjoy a culinary experience. You can even take a winter wagon ride across a bluff that sits above Whalan, just five miles from Lanesboro. High Court Pub and The Granary will provide musical entertainment here in town on New Year’s Eve. Lanesboro’s Saloon and American Legion will each have a DJ supplying all the tunes to keep you going until the countdown. If you are looking for an overnight getaway, Lanesboro's many lodging establishments will be able to arrange that for you! Here’s how to eat, drink and celebrate your way into the new year.
Home Sweet Home is located at 210 Parkway Avenue N. This will be their first year open for New Year’s Eve Dinner as they are the newest addition to Lanesboro’s many restaurants. From 8am- 5pm, Home Sweet Home will be serving breakfast and lunch. At 5pm, Chef Liz will be serving Prime Rib, baked potato, tossed salad and dessert until 8pm. Keep in mind you can stop at Granny’s Liquors and grab your beverage of choice to go along with dinner.
The Old Village Hall is a restaurant and pub located in a stone building that was originally built in 1886 as the village hall, fire station and jail. This historical landmark is a place where you can experience fine dining in a casual setting. Old Village Hall has put together a 4-course dinner on New Years Eve including a choice of Beef Tenderloin, New Zealand Lamb Chops and Jumbo Sea Scallops for you to enjoy and celebrate the welcoming of the new year. Open seating will be from 5pm – 9pm.
Sveen Wagon Rides can provide a memorable horse-drawn wagon or sleigh ride through the bluffs of Whalan. This ride takes about an hour. Halfway through the trip, you will stop at the scenic overlook where there is a warm cabin to take the chill off. The Granary will be hosting an evening of musical entertainment by The Turnip Truck- a subset of a local blues band called The Rutabaga Brothers. The band will start at 9pm and perform through the champagne toast at midnight. Coffee, beer and wine will also be served.
High Court Pub will ring in 2019 with live music by local Classic Rock, Folk, and Country quartet Tom Schramm & the LPs. Enjoy the High Court's craft beers on tap, great cocktails and complimentary champagne at midnight. They will also offer an array of appetizers and flatbreads all night long.
Root River Saloon is also hosting a NYE dance party featuring a selection of beer, wine and cocktails and a DJ spinning tunes from 8:30 pm until 12:30 am.
The Lanesboro American Legion is also hosting their annual New Year’s Eve Party featuring a DJ in the upper level! This party doubles as a customer appreciation event and will include a hot meal served at 6 p.m. Bar opens at 5 p.m. and the DJ will start playing at 8:30 pm until bar closes.
