About Us
My audio tour directs you to Amish shops and sites in the comfort of your own car at your own pace. Educational, scenic and fun! The CD or USB flash drive can be rented in downtown shops: Stone Mill Hotel & Suites, 102 Beacon St E, 507-467-8663 and Amish Experience,105 Parkway Ave N, 507-467-2992. A download of the tour is also available for purchase at our Facebook page and also on our website: www.AmishBackroadsTour.com.
Please note that the Amish shops are generally open Monday through Saturday year round except for Christian holidays. Most of them are open for visitors from dawn until dusk. (We do not guarantee they will be open at any given time.) Driving time is about 1.5 hours.
The Amish accept only cash or checks. The businesses that you rent the tour from accept credit cards and checks. A deposit to rent the CD or flash drive is required.
The shops carry a variety of Amish made goods that vary seasonally, such as fine functional hardwood items, baskets for many uses, beautiful quilts, loom-woven rugs, potholders, superior hardwood furniture, handmade soaps, wild berry jams, fresh and home canned fruits and vegetables, homemade breads, cookies, pies and candies.
We have received hundreds of comments from people who enjoyed the tour. Here are a few:
“We loved it! We met so many beautiful people and saw gorgeous landscapes. We will return with friends.” (D., M., & J.H.)
“Excellent tour... Each store we visited had excellent quality of merchandise... Our tour was perfect!” (J. and E.H.)
“Directions were outstanding...we’d definitely do this again.” (L.P.)
